Alumnus of the Year

Dr. Dennis H. Lyons O.D FAAO has been chosen as the PCO Alumnus of the Year for 2008.
In private practice since 1973, Dr. Lyons has served as President and Secretary/Treasurer of the New Jersey chapter of the American Academy of Optometry. He has also been director of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and Vice  President of the Monmouth/Ocean County Optometric Association.

Dr. Lyons has been instrumental in establishing scholarships for PCO students, through both the New Jersey AOA and the creation of the Class of 1973 Memorial Scholarship.

Dr. Lyons served as Chief Optometrist for the Ocean County Board of Health Optometric Clinic from 1978 to 2004, and in 2007, he was awarded the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians' Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Lyons will receive his award at the PCO Alumni Reunion dinner on Saturday, May 3 on the Elkins Park campus.

Nomination forms for the Alumnus of the Year Award are sent to alumni electronically in December. The nominating committee of the Alumni Association then reviews all nominations received and makes a recommendation to the College.
